About Daniel Island & Daniel Island Park Living Lifestyle

Daniel Island real Estate and specifically Daniel Island Park better known as “The Park” side which is very interestingly funny considering there are 8 different “parks” on the other side of the island: Center Park, Barfield Park, Smythe Park, Pierce Park, Codner’s Ferry Park, Cochran Park, Etiwan Park, and soon to be Edgefield Park which most of are just different sections of Daniel Island real estate. The east side of the island where those neighborhoods are will be where the most reasonably priced homes will offer prospective buyers less pricey options. Closest to the schools (and the parks in which kids play) on Daniel Island, these neighborhoods would likely be the best option for those with children as the convenience of dropping them off and picking them up would appeal to parents.

When Daniel Island began development it was of the utmost importance that education and the quality of the schools be the best possible, and as such this has been achieved. Daniel Island has some of the highest rated schools, teachers, and activities for children in the state of S.C. Because Daniel Island, and the areas closest to Daniel Island (off Clements Ferry Rd) are in Berkeley county most of the current schools dedicated to residents not wanting to send their children to a private school will have to attend Hanahan High School. Otherwise, if you don’t mind the expense of private school there is Bishop England High School- Grades 9-12. Bishop England High school moved to Daniel Island from downtown Charleston in 1998. Bishop England High School is now the largest private high school in the state of South Carolina which is conveniently located across from Etiwan Park.

Sometime in 2017 a new school Phillip Simmons High School will be opening off Clements Ferry Rd so those who can not afford private school do not have to drive all the way to Hanahan High School. This is welcome news for neighborhoods such as Beresford Creek Landing, Pinefield Plantation, The Retreat at Beresford, Rivers Reach, and Beresford Hall to name a few. For pre-school ages 1-5 there is Daniel Island Academy – located in the heart of Daniel Island the school it is accredited by NAYEC. For middle school aged children will be Daniel Island School– Grades K-8 190,000 square feet located on Daniel Island Drive near the Berkeley County Library. Opened in 2006, there are more than 1200 students. and the school is Advance ED Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, recognized by the Educational Oversight Committee with Gold or Silver Awards 7 years in a row with a student to Certified Teacher Ratio of 23:1.
